Maureen Adams, Executive Vice President of Gaming Operations for Churchill Downs Incorporated, Selected as a 2024 Louisville Business First Enterprising Woman Honoree

LOUISVILLE, KY., (April 17, 2024) – Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) is proud to announce Maureen Adams, Executive Vice President of Gaming Operations, has been selected as a 2024 Louisville Business First (LBF) Enterprising Woman Honoree. Adams has over 25 years of gaming experience and her career with CDI spans eleven years, previously serving as President and General Manager of CDI’s Calder Casino property in Miami Gardens, Florida. In addition to her own well-deserved recognition, Adams joins an extraordinary group of honorees that represent a wide array of backgrounds and industries who are making a difference in their businesses and Kentuckiana community through leadership and civic engagement.

When asked what advice she would give to women seeking to jumpstart their careers or attain higher leadership positions, Adams shared “Ensure you are demonstrating leadership, strong problem solving decision making and people skills early and consistently throughout your career. Display your skills in a positive manner by being the one who volunteers to spearhead projects and drive company initiatives. It is easy to complain and wait for others to solve problems or make decisions — do not be that person. Be the woman that jumps in, solves problems and makes decisions. Most importantly, take the time to mentor and teach others.”

The annual Business Women First Enterprising Women Awards honors professional women who are making a difference in business and in the community. Candidates selected embody leadership, community and civic engagement, business management, mentoring, volunteerism, entrepreneurship and innovation. LBF asked readers to submit nominations for the enterprising women awards to be reviewed by our panel of judges, who were then judged by Louisville Business First editors and Publisher Lisa Benson.
