Rivers Casino Des Plaines Celebrates Construction Milestone of Casino Expansion Project
Des Plaines, IL., (August 30, 2021) – The expansion of Rivers Casino Des Plaines achieved a significant milestone when local officials, members of the building trades, and casino executives celebrated the placement of the final structural steel beam during a topping off ceremony.
“We are investing in the property to provide our guests more dining amenities, more entertainment, more gaming options, and what will be the Midwest’s best poker room,” said Corey Wise, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Rivers Casino. “We thank our team members for helping Rivers earn the loyalty of guests over the past ten years, as well as the hardworking men and women of our local building trades for keeping our expansion on schedule.”
The 78,000 square-foot expansion will allow Rivers to be the first casino to have the state’s maximum number of 2,000 gaming positions when complete. The expansion will open in two phases.
The first section to open will be the ground-level addition that will house a new restaurant and an expanded gaming floor for slots and table games. This section is expected to open in winter 2022.
The second-floor addition will open in spring 2022 and feature a 22-table poker room, a 10,000 square-foot ballroom for private events and live entertainment, and a slot machine gaming area.
The casino is hiring 400 team members, including 250 table game dealers, to support the expansion.
Rivers recently adopted a $15 per hour wage for all entry level, non-tipped employees, and the value of the company-paid benefits make the effective minimum wage $25 per hour. Individuals can learn about current job openings at: https://www.riverscasino.com/desplaines/careers
