Churchill Downs Racetrack Hosts 2024 College Day

LOUISVILLE, KY., (September 14, 2024) – Churchill Downs hosted their annual College Day on September 14 where college students enjoyed free admission and discounted merchandise. 

$20,000 in scholarships were awarded with support from the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association:

  • $10,000 (1)
  • $2,000 (5)
    • One $2,000 scholarship was designated for the children of backside workers, honoring their contributions to our community. 
    • One $2,000 scholarship was designated exclusively for students enrolled in the University of Louisville Equine Industry Program, supporting their pursuit of excellence in this specialized field.

Additionally, students had the opportunity to receive free Churchill Downs-branded hats and tote bags, Vineyard Vines merchandise, and a $250 gift card to the Outlets of the Bluegrass. CDRT partners Tractor and TwinSpires were on-site, as well as representatives from the UofL Equine Business Program and the Kentucky Equine Management Internship program.
