Ellis Park Racing & Gaming Hosts Community Day to Give Back to Local Nonprofits

HENDERSON, KY., (August 10, 2024) – Ellis Park Racing and Gaming (“Ellis Park”) hosted a Community Day Saturday, August 10, focused on giving back to the greater Evansville/Henderson area and beyond. The day included $2,500 check presentations to both the Salvation Army and the United Way, as well as smaller donations to seven other nonprofit organizations and a silent auction to raise money for these local nonprofits.

In addition to the donations, Ellis Park hosted a Ring the Bell fundraiser that provided $50 to Friends of Ferdinand every time a jockey rang the bell in the Winner’s Circle. Friends of Ferdinand is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing racehorses from entering the slaughter pipeline and is currently the only Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance-accredited organization in Indiana. In addition to the Ring the Bell fundraiser, Ellis Park also supported Friends of Ferdinand with a free play match gaming promotion in which guests could come to the gaming floor and donate up to $5 to Friends of Ferdinand and receive $5 in Free Play.
